“Success is neither magical nor mysterious. Success is the natural consequence of consistently applying the basic fundamentals.” – Jim Rohn

One of my current projects involves taking a client’s newly launched product to $2 million in sales as quickly as possible.

We’ve never hit this target before… although we HAVE achieved getting another product to just under $1 million.

When I sit down to work, I ask myself, “What would it take to quickly build this new product to $2 million a year in sales?” (A great focusing question!)

We start with the fundamentals as usual.

First, we build a sales funnel. We build each part and piece included in a sales funnel.

Then we devise ways to get people into the sales funnel.

That’s it. Simple.

We’ll be focusing entirely on building our email list, and sending emails to that list. Why? Because email is fundamental for online sales.

(We WON’T be doing any social media. Why? Because it’s not fundamental. It’s extraneous. It’s a distraction.)

We know from past experience that we generate sales, simply through sending emails to the list. We’ve been doing it for years. Rinse and repeat.

While all the “marketing gurus” are busy advising everyone to get on social media — because “that’s where everyone is now” — we’re ignore that advice and stick with the fundamentals.

The more emails we send, the more sales we get.

The better quality those emails are, the more sales we get.

The SHORTER and easier to read those emails are, the more sales we get.

The more we focus on marketing to our email list, the more sales we get.

Period.

Those are the fundamentals.

As Jim Rohn said in the quote above: “Success is neither magical nor mysterious. Success is the natural consequence of consistently applying the basic fundamentals.”

I believe we’ll have no trouble hitting our target. It will simply be a matter of continuing to apply the fundamentals over and over again.

Whether you’re aiming for $2 million a year in online sales or a smaller goal (like $10K/month)…you must train yourself to focus on the “fundamentals,” i.e., the basics, if you expect to hit your target.

If you’re focusing on anything OTHER THAN the “fundamentals,” then you’re going to make it difficult if not impossible to reach your goal.

When we stray too far away from the fundamentals — that’s when we get into dangerous territory known as Distractions.

Ignoring distractions is tough at first. It requires continuous mental training and conditioning…as you eventually learn to keep your mind focused on the fundamentals.

This is what gets you to your goal.

Are you ignoring the fundamentals? And if so, what is this costing you over the long run?

P.S. Building a sales funnel and marketing to your email list are FUNDAMENTAL for getting online sales. Everything else is a distraction. If you want my help with this, get started by applying for a Marketing Review.
